Deskripsi Pekerjaan

Xendit provides payment infrastructure across Southeast Asia and is expanding into Greater China and LATAM. Its services include payment processing, marketplace support, payroll and loan disbursements, KYC solutions, and fraud prevention. It offers APIs, eCommerce platform integrations, and applications for individual entrepreneurs, SMEs, and enterprises. The company focuses on payment rails that make payments within and across Southeast Asia simple and secure. It serves thousands of businesses, from SMEs to multinational enterprises, and processes millions of transactions each month. Since its founding in 2015, it has added hundreds of customers monthly, received backing from global top-10 VCs, and been featured by Y Combinator among the fastest-growing companies. This role leads new-market entry from assessment through handover. Before Xendit can sell in a market, it needs an entity, a licence or licensed partner, bank accounts, and live payment rails. The person hired will help select markets, develop investment cases, recommend whether to build, buy, or partner for licensing, and coordinate entry until the market is licensed, funded, connected, and ready for a country commercial lead. They will also build a repeatable playbook so later entries can move faster. The role sits in Financial Partnerships, reports to its leadership, and has direct exposure to the CRO and CEO, who sponsor the mandate. It has no formal authority over Legal, Compliance, Risk, Corporate Secretarial, Treasury, Product, or Finance, despite depending on those teams to meet its timelines. Xendit is hiring at manager through lead level and will set the mandate, number of markets, and title based on the person hired. Responsibilities include: - Screen and rank potential markets by size, regulatory openness, payment rails, competition, and merchant demand; maintain a current pipeline and a decision-ready entry book for each market. - Model launch and operating costs, projected revenue and margins, and breakeven; present and defend go/no-go recommendations to leadership. - Recommend a build, buy, or partner licensing approach for each market, including licence type and regulator engagement, while maintaining a coordinated licensing roadmap. - Coordinate entity incorporation, licence applications, bank accounts, and scheme and rail access with Corporate Secretarial, Legal, Compliance, and Treasury. - Manage one timeline, budget, and risk register per market; bring teams together, track commitments, and escalate threatened milestones early and specifically. - Create reusable stage gates, application templates, a common business-case model, a bank-account approach, and a handover checklist, while managing country-specific differences. - Support hiring the country commercial lead, work with Compliance to operationalise the licence, and retain ownership until every item in the defined handover-readiness standard is met. Minimum qualifications are 3+ years of experience delivering a complex cross-functional programme by a committed date; working knowledge of payment regulation, banking, and payment infrastructure; strong commercial and financial judgment; exceptional written communication; the ability to work across cultures and domains, including regulator and banking relationships in both developed markets and Southeast Asia; teamwork without line authority; comfort with ambiguity and dependence on others’ work; and a bachelor’s degree in an analytically rigorous discipline. Relevant backgrounds include top-tier management consulting, corporate development or strategy at a high-growth technology or financial services company, and programme leadership in payments, banking, or fintech. A law degree is not required, but the role requires credible discussions with regulators, global banks, and Compliance. Xendit also seeks someone who prioritises getting a market live over producing an elegant plan; establishes licensing feasibility, cost, and timing before commitments are made; involves functions early and holds them to dates constructively; can support a no-go recommendation with analysis even when leadership favours a market; builds reusable tools; and is comfortable with a fast pace, high accountability, and direct feedback. The role is based in Singapore or Hong Kong, with four office days per week and approximately 20–30% travel to target markets and meetings with regulators, banks, and partners. Travel will depend on the market entries underway. The position offers ownership of the full entry sequence across multiple markets rather than a defined lane within an established process.
