As part of the Kargo team, you will develop and deploy future hardware and software solutions and contribute to transforming logistics. Responsibilities Accounting and close Own the monthly close calendar and maintain a consistent cadence with the outsourced controller team; review the India controller team’s work rather than performing it Review reconciliations, accruals, prepaid and fixed-asset schedules, revenue recognition for hardware-enabled subscriptions, and inventory accounting, including finished goods versus spare parts, consignment, and WIP Prepare the monthly financial package and variance commentary Manage day-to-day audit and tax-provider relationships, including PBC lists, supporting schedules, and follow-ups Billing and accounts receivable Own the customer master, deployment-triggered invoicing, sales-tax application, collections, and AR reconciliation Own billing-process documentation and controls for the sales-to-finance handoff Payroll, benefits, and equity administration Manage payroll through the PEO (Rippling), including approved commissions, bonuses, and salary changes Administer benefits and 401(k), including enrollment logistics, employee questions, census and notices, as well as workers’ comp and EPLI administration; strategy, negotiations, plan design, and fiduciary decisions remain with the CFO Handle routine Carta administration, including grants, exercises, cap-table hygiene, 409A uploads, and FMV updates Treasury, AP, and compliance operations Manage AP and vendors, the weekly cash position, and the 13-week cash forecast; support bank administration Manage sales tax, state registrations, and the finance compliance calendar, including filing support for annual reports and tax Handle vendor and customer requests for insurance certificates FP&A and reporting support Maintain the actuals side of the financial model and support department-level budget-versus-actual reporting Build and maintain recurring board and investor reporting schedules using system data, including ARR, retention, unit economics, and asset base Systems Own the ERP implementation day to day, including data migration, testing, and documentation; after go-live, serve as the ERP system administrator Own the fixed-asset register and reconcile it with deployment data Experience 6–10 years of finance and accounting experience, including work as a controller, assistant controller, or finance manager at a venture-backed B2B SaaS or hardware-enabled SaaS company; CPA or equivalent strongly preferred Hands-on ownership of a monthly close and external audit, with the ability to review an outsourced accounting team’s work Working knowledge of subscription revenue recognition under ASC 606 and inventory/fixed-asset accounting; hardware experience is a significant advantage Experience administering payroll and benefits, ideally in a PEO environment; Carta familiarity is a plus QuickBooks experience plus at least one mid-market ERP, such as Rillet, Campfire, Sage Intacct, or NetSuite; strong Excel/Sheets skills Ability to build and document processes and work comfortably as the only full-time finance professional besides the CFO High attention to detail, discretion when handling compensation and cap-table data, and a low ego regarding operational work Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field Kargo is an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer committed to an inclusive and diverse workplace.
