About The Role
This position seeks a Portfolio Risk Senior Lead responsible for shaping Amartha's credit policies, monitoring portfolio performance, and executing risk strategies aligned with the mission of supporting millions of underserved micro-businesses. The role involves collaborating with data, business, and operations teams to sustain growth, minimize credit losses, and advance financial inclusion throughout Indonesia. It also presents an opportunity to influence lending strategies at scale within a high-impact, purpose-driven organization.
Responsibilities:
- Own the credit risk strategy — Define and drive the credit risk framework, policies, and risk appetite across all Amartha lending products, ensuring alignment with business growth targets and regulatory standards.
- Govern portfolio performance — Oversee end-to-end portfolio health through continuous monitoring, trend analysis, and segmentation, translating insights into strategic decisions for senior leadership.
- Lead cross-functional risk integration — Partner with Data Science, Product, and Operations leadership to embed risk considerations into product design and growth initiatives, balancing expansion with asset quality.
- Anticipate and mitigate emerging risks — Build early-warning systems and proactive mitigation strategies to safeguard portfolio quality ahead of market or macroeconomic shifts.
- Drive financial and risk planning — Provide credit forecasts, provisioning inputs, and risk-adjusted return analysis that directly inform company-wide financial planning and capital allocation decisions.
- Build organizational risk capability — Lead, mentor, and develop the credit risk team while establishing reporting standards and governance practices that ensure clear, actionable communication with senior management and the board.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Statistics, or a related field.
- 12+ years of experience in credit risk management, loan portfolio analytics, or strategy, preferably within fintech, P2P lending, or multi-finance institutions, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership or head-level capacity.
- Proven track record of designing and scaling credit risk frameworks and policies within a high-growth lending environment.
- Strong command of credit lifecycle management, risk segmentation, and portfolio strategy across diverse loan products.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in SQL, Excel, and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex data into strategic insights and communicate them persuasively to senior management, the board, and external stakeholders.
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with experience building and developing high-performing risk teams.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience working with machine learning-based credit scoring or alternative data models.
- Familiarity with regulatory frameworks such as OJK, Basel, or IFRS 9.
- Knowledge of borrower behavior in microfinance or MSME segments.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional projects.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven, and agile work environment.
