Flex is developing an AI-native private bank tailored for business owners, reworking the full financial system for entrepreneurs — covering banking, credit, payments, personal finance, and financial operations — rebuilt as a single intelligent system from the ground up. Since its public launch in September 2023, Flex has grown from zero to nine-figure annualized revenue, with a path to profitability targeted by late 2026. The company prioritizes speed, relentless shipping, and extreme ownership. Its customers are affluent business owners generating $3–$200M in revenue, a segment often underserved by outdated banks and fragmented tools. The market opportunity is estimated at a ~$1T+ revenue space. Flex aims to build a $100B+ company by delivering a fundamentally superior product rather than an incremental improvement. The company has raised $100M+ in equity and $300M+ in debt. Key characteristics include mission-critical problems (software that directly controls how money moves at scale), small teams with exceptional people and real ownership, a focus on speed, execution quality, and clarity, and a commitment to enduring impact on how a generation of owners runs their businesses.
Roles are available in San Francisco, Miami, New York, and fully remote.
What You'll Do: Draft, review, and revise commercial agreements including NDAs, vendor agreements, customer contracts, and other day-to-day contracts. Support contract negotiations by preparing drafts and redlines, researching issues, and collaborating with senior Legal team members to resolve open points. Assist with product and regulatory matters including researching legal requirements, reviewing product materials and disclosures, and helping prepare terms, policies, notices, and other customer-facing materials. Research federal and state laws and regulations affecting Flex and translate findings into practical guidance for the Legal & Compliance team and business partners. Support regulatory and licensing work including preparing filings, gathering information, maintaining records, and responding to requests from regulators, banks, and other partners. Assist with disputes, litigation, collections, and recovery matters including researching claims, organizing records, preparing correspondence, and coordinating with internal teams and outside counsel. Help maintain corporate records and support governance and other general corporate matters. Work across Flex teams to gather facts, understand business needs, and help the Legal team respond quickly and effectively. Help build and improve templates, playbooks, processes, and tools to make the Legal function more efficient. Use AI and other technology as part of everyday practice, and help find new ways to automate routine legal work.
What Makes You A Great Fit: Smart, curious, and eager to learn. Takes pride in work with attention to detail — proofreads and checks work, not considering something finished just because they've reached the bottom of the page. Comfortable asking questions and knowing the difference between figuring something out and guessing. Learns quickly, takes feedback well, applies it, and wants each subsequent attempt to be noticeably better. Strong writer and clear thinker who can research unfamiliar issues, identify what matters, and explain findings without burying the answer. Organized and dependable — tracks assignments, communicates about them, and gets them done. Wants to understand the business beyond just the legal answer, including what Flex is building, how products work, and why questions matter. Willing to do the work — no assignment is beneath them, understanding that becoming a great lawyer means getting fundamentals right first. Comfortable with change — priorities move quickly at a startup, new questions arise constantly, and not every assignment comes with a form or precedent. Wants responsibility and is ready to earn it.
What We're Looking For: J.D. from an accredited law school and an active bar license, or eligibility to become admitted promptly. 0–2 years of legal experience; law firm, in-house, government, judicial clerkship, and other relevant legal experience will all be considered. Strong academic, legal research, writing, and analytical skills. Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, thoughtful work. Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines. Good judgment, including knowing when to work through an issue independently and when to ask for help. Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with lawyers and non-lawyers across the company. An interest in contracts and commercial work with a desire to develop strong drafting and negotiation skills. An interest in fintech, financial services, technology, or startups (helpful but not required). Curiosity about AI and a willingness to learn how to use it responsibly to research, draft, analyze, and work more efficiently. Willingness to take on a broad range of assignments and learn different areas of an in-house legal practice. Genuine excitement about Flex and the opportunity to grow as a lawyer while helping build the company.
Compensation: Final compensation within this range will be based on experience, qualifications, and interview performance. The position is also eligible for equity compensation. Flex offers medical, dental and vision insurance, paid time off, and a 401(k) plan. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis until the position is filled.
Why Join Us: Build something generational — capture the full lifecycle of money for ambitious business owners. Work on real money, real risk — payments, credit, and banking at serious scale. Solve hard problems — AI, underwriting, compliance, and global finance from first principles. True ownership — small teams, high trust, real accountability. Founder-level exposure — direct access to leadership, customers, and investors. High bar, high taste — move fast without cutting corners. Elite peers — people here are builders. Real upside — meaningful equity if you help build something big.
