The Fulfillment tech family is one of the key pillars enabling Grab to serve customers and partners across various businesses and marketplaces throughout Southeast Asia. The team builds high-throughput, real-time distributed systems employing advanced software engineering techniques to handle hundreds of millions of requests per day. This is a distributed team spanning 5 different locations: Singapore, Beijing, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Romania. The role reports to the Senior Software Engineering Manager, Fulfilment. The mission is to deliver the best products and experiences for driver partners to increase adoption and engagement of services, improve driver partner opportunities and efficiency to fulfill customer orders reliably, and create efficient marketplaces by setting a price that is sustainable and valued by partners. The team is seeking a Software Engineer, Backend to join the Fulfilment Platform Engineering Team. The ideal candidate has experience in cloud engineering, system design and architecture, and infrastructure automation and integration, consistently produces high-quality code, and is willing to guide junior engineers. This role exists because operational fundamentals are being revamped to improve the automation and efficiency of market operations. In return, the role offers working with a strong team on complex architectures and business challenges. The position is based onsite at the South Jakarta, Jakarta, Indonesia office. Key responsibilities include designing and writing code using the Go language to improve the availability, scalability, latency, and efficiency of Grab's range of services; working with the engineering team to explore and create new design and architectures aimed at scale and performance; participating in code and design reviews to uphold high development standards; engaging in service capacity and demand planning, software performance analysis, tuning, and optimization; collaborating with product and experience teams to define and prototype feature specifications; working with the infrastructure team to build and scale back-end services and conduct root cause analysis investigations; developing, analyzing, and fixing large-scale systems; debugging and resolving production incidents during on-call shifts; participating in interview loops to support continued top-tier industry hiring; and providing technical guidance, mentorship, and knowledge sharing to peers.
