The role involves overseeing a team of maintenance technicians and support staff, covering hiring, training, performance management, and professional development. Regular inspections and preventative maintenance programmes must be conducted across all facilities and equipment. Maintenance budgets are to be managed by monitoring spending and identifying cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality and safety standards. Maintenance failures and their root causes should be investigated with corrective actions implemented to prevent them from recurring. Detailed maintenance records, logs, and reports are required to track equipment performance and maintenance history. All maintenance activities must comply with relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations as well as company policies. Coordination with other departments is needed to schedule maintenance activities and reduce operational disruption. Equipment upgrades or replacements should be recommended based on performance analysis and cost-benefit evaluations. Emergency response procedures and contingency plans for critical equipment failures must be developed and maintained. Qualifications required: Minimum 5 years of experience in maintenance management or a similar supervisory role in a manufacturing setting. Strong knowledge of preventative and predictive maintenance practices and techniques. Proven experience managing and leading maintenance teams of varying sizes. Proficiency in maintenance management software and systems. Excellent understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Solid knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations relevant to maintenance operations. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams. Formal qualifications in mechanical engineering, maintenance technology, or a related field are preferred. Certification in maintenance management or ISO standards.
