Position at Cush Cush Gallery in Bali is looking for a Gallery Assistant to handle admin, press, web and image support for staff, oversee general upkeep of the gallery space, and help maintain a warm, inviting environment. Key duties include gaining a solid grasp of the Gallery's programme, philosophy and objectives; greeting and communicating with gallery visitors; staying well-informed about current exhibitions so the concepts behind each show can be explained to guests; keeping an eye on exhibition conditions and notifying the right people when repairs are needed, carrying out fixes as appropriate; managing social media updates, website news, and creating events through Facebook and other online platforms; archiving all press related to gallery artists and exhibitions as well as keeping press packs and artist portfolios current; and handling administrative tasks such as updating gallery contacts and art work databases, ensuring all gallery artist CVs remain current, conducting online mail-outs, and managing and maintaining the gallery's photo and video documentations. The role may also involve assisting with exhibition installation and de-installation. Candidates should have an interest in and knowledge of the contemporary art scene; excellent oral and written communication skills; be an energetic, committed, flexible team-player with a self-starting, 'can do' approach and a strong sense of initiative; a degree in art history or a related discipline is preferable; and be able to work fulltime and weekends or evenings during programmed events.
