Summary: Lead the Switchboard team, which owns the Tenant management product for Dedicated environments. This team has diverse skills (Frontend, Backend and Reliability engineers) and owns the product end to end. The product provides self-service and workflow automations for customers and internal operators of a large-scale Dedicated tenant fleet. Key Responsibilities: Lead the fullstack Switchboard team responsible for GitLab Dedicated's customer-facing control panel and set clear direction for how the team delivers and evolves that product. Close coordination with the assigned Product Manager is required. Hire and develop a high-performing team where members can thrive and produce results with quality and speed. Partner with Technical Team Leads to provide direction and act as final decision-maker and unblocker to keep the team moving forward quickly. Work closely with Product and Design on the customer-facing control panel, including wireframes and UI direction for external users. Own planning alongside the Product Manager, covering priorities, dependencies, and the quarterly delivery epic. Ensure fast, high-quality, and cross-functional execution across frontend, backend, UX, product, and technical writing. Drive improvements in quality, security, and performance. Support the team's mission of enabling GitLab Dedicated customers to manage their tenant environments while reducing manual operations on the large-scale Dedicated fleet. The role requires a technical engineering manager to lead a team building and operating large-scale distributed systems, combining deep technical expertise with strong operational instincts and a passion for building high-performing teams. What you'll bring: Proven track record building and owning large-scale distributed services, with enough technical depth to dive into architecture and guide the team on technical strategy. Experience driving operational excellence, having owned services running at four-nines (99.99%) SLOs and understanding what it takes to maintain them. Experience leveraging AI tooling to boost team productivity, with real lessons learned from both wins and missteps. A history of building and managing high-performing, accountable team cultures, including managing out when necessary. Comfort driving complex projects to completion without relying on a dedicated TPM. Experience leading distributed and remote teams effectively.
