Chainguard is venture-backed by investors including Amplify, IVP, Kleiner Perkins, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Mantis VC, Redpoint Ventures, Sequoia Capital, and Spark Capital. Chainguard is seeking an Engineering Manager, AI CICD to lead a team responsible for securing the software supply chain and developing next-generation products at the intersection of security and AI. The role involves managing a portfolio of products end-to-end, including the Guardener, hardened GitHub Actions, Chainguard Agent Skills, and emerging microVM sandbox platform-based products — covering roadmap, implementation, rollout, and iteration. Responsibilities include hiring, leading, and growing a small team of engineers; removing blockers; staying technically hands-on through code and PR reviews, design review, and prototyping; partnering with Product on a roadmap with real deadlines; prioritizing tradeoffs; navigating ambiguous problems; and maintaining quality and reliability while turning customer feedback into the roadmap. Requirements include 2+ years of experience managing engineers with a genuine passion for leading and growing teams; a track record of shipping products or major features and owning results; a strong technical background with the ability to read code, review designs, and reason about architecture and tradeoffs; proficiency with Go or strong readiness to ramp quickly; experience building CI/CD systems, developer tooling, or product-facing platforms; familiarity with containers, Kubernetes, and cloud infrastructure; experience with AI tooling and genuine enthusiasm for applying it to complex customer problems; comfort with autonomy and ambiguity, a bias for action, and a habit of shipping iteratively; and strong communication skills collaborating closely with Product and customers. Base salary range is $229,000—$258,000 USD. Benefits include a flexible and remote-first culture with team meetup opportunities, bi-annual destination summits, and a monthly stipend for coworking spaces, phone, and internet costs; stock options upon hire and promotion, with participation in secondary offerings and 10 years to exercise options; 100% covered health, vision, and dental insurance premiums for employees and dependents with nothing deducted from paychecks; flexible time off; and 18 weeks paid parental leave for birthing parents and 12 weeks for non-birthing parents, usable all at once or throughout the child's first year. Candidates whose experience is close but does not fulfill all requirements are encouraged to apply.
