Responsibilities : General installation and de-installation of artwork in galleries and warehouse storage. Safe storage of artwork in warehouse facilities. Loading and unloading trucks; transporting crated and packed works across galleries and warehouse. Packing and unpacking artwork for shipment, both internal and external artwork movement, and assisting in coordination with the shipping agent and Registrar. Supporting gallery preparation for display and exhibition through tasks such as spackling and light painting. Assisting with framing and unframing of two-dimensional artworks and mounting of three-dimensional works of art. Helping assess the safety of artworks and taking necessary steps to secure them. Supporting the Conservator with artwork care and maintenance. Assisting in construction of new crates or retrofitting previously built crates. Effective coordination of multiple crews. Collaborating with other team members across departments. Crew leader coordination: Overseeing all installation schedules, jobs, and resources. Scheduling: Directing install leads on a job-specific basis. On-site implementation: Preparing all equipment, tools, and supplies according to schedules and manpower division. Scheduling: Artwork cleaning, maintenance, and care. Inventory: Keeping track of supplies and maintaining an inventory list. Participate in the process to organize technical manuals, requirements, and equipment for artists and artist studios working with the Museum, as well as artworks in all exhibitions. Organize and maintain inventory of tools and equipment within the Exhibitions Dept. Participate in preparation of artwork installation and dismantling process as a Cross-Functional team member. Strategies and plans: Execute approved artwork installation, dismantling, movement, and maintenance plans. Qualification : Education & Experience High School or Vocational School. Fine arts background, preferred. 3 years of experience in art handling. 3 years' experience in an auction house, internationally recognized gallery, shipping agent, or art moving services, required. Working knowledge of and experience with various packing methods suitable to a wide range of media, required. Working knowledge of and experience with installation methods suitable to a wide range of media, required. Basic electrical skills including wiring, preferred. Finish carpentry skills, preferred. Behavioral Competencies Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks. Experience at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential. Ability to work through project issues with internal and external teams in a timely manner. Ability to use Microsoft Office applications. Fast learner with basic technical abilities. Fast-paced multi-tasker. Attention to detail. Strong work ethic. Ability to follow through with tasks given by colleagues and complete them on time.
